Volunteering with HospiceCare
Like many charities, we rely heavily on volunteers who make a valuable contribution to the charity by helping reduce our operating costs and bringing additional skills to the organisation. HospiceCare volunteers have consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Hospice, which includes our Board of Trustees. Together they all work tirelessly alongside our paid staff to form an essential and integral part of the Hospice team.

We always welcome new volunteers to join our existing teams, so if you have a few hours to spare each month and would like to donate your time to a vital local charity, we would love to hear from you. An online application form can be found on this page with our volunteering opportunities Alternatively, call us on T. 01665 606515 or T. 01289 309997 Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm for an informal confidential chat - thank you. Volunteering is a mutually beneficial arrangement, but it is not intended to give rise to contractual obligations on the part of either HospiceCare or the volunteer

Volunteering Opportunities with HospiceCare

Reception Volunteers
Our reception volunteers are the first point of contact for visitors to the building. They ensure the reception area is tidy and welcoming. In addition, they answer our main switchboard telephone and direct calls or take messages as necessary. They receive deliveries and mail and ensure they are directed to the appropriate member of staff. Ideally, our volunteers have IT skills and can assist with admin duties such as typing letters, and are able to send and receive emails. They also assist with making tea and coffee for visitors and cleaning the kitchen afterward.

Administration Volunteers
Our administration volunteers help us with a variety of tasks. They can help with letters, writing thank you cards, filling envelopes, photocopying, guillotining, or laminating. In addition, they can also assist with counting and receipting any monies received into the building from cash collection buckets or donations.

Our Fundraising team is looking for volunteers who can help with their events such as Open Gardens and the Great North Run and in the office helping with administration support.
