About HospiceCare North Northumberland

HospiceCare, established in 1995, is the main provider of palliative care in North Northumberland. We serve a population of around 63,000 people living in some of the most rural parts of the country. (see map below) We have two Wellbeing Centres -  one in Alnwick and one in Berwick.

We deliver a person-centered Hospice at Home service offering practical care and support to adults aged 18 years and over, who are suffering from a terminal illness, and requiring palliative input. The care is provided within a person’s home by our dedicated team of healthcare assistants 365 days a year with an emphasis on promoting quality of life. Our Hospice at Home service is accessed by a Healthcare professional such as a GP or District Nurse - just ask them to refer you.

We also offer a Family/Bereavement Support Service, Dementia Support Service, and Wellbeing services which can be accessed via self-referral.

Our services are delivered free at the point of need.

HospiceCare is such a lovely thing to have. Such lovely people offering a massive amount of help and support. They were strangers, yet I felt like I had known each and every one of them forever.”
