What is The BIG Give Christmas Challenge

The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign which supports a a diverse array of charities working across all charitable sectors within the UK and overseas. It's The Big Give's flagship, annual, seven-day online match funding campaign, which raised over £33m for 1,077 charities and facilitated 94,000 donations in 2023." What makes this campaign so special

This campaign is unique in that it allows donations from individuals, businesses or local community groups made during the dedicated week, which this year is 3rd - 10th December 2024 to be magically doubled. For example, if you donate £10, it will be match-funded meaning your donation becomes £20 for the Hospice at no extra cost to you. HospiceCare North Northumberland initially signed up for The Big Give Christmas Challenge in 2021- you can see how successful this annual campaign has been for the Hospice in the graph below. This year we are aiming even higher and are looking to raise £50,000 - to do that we need your help.

So how does it work?

All you need to do is make an online donation during the dedicated week (3rd-10th December), and the amount you donate will be automatically doubled, so a £10 donation becomes £20 at no extra cost to you. If you are a UK taxpayer, donations are also eligible for Gift Aid. (Business donations will be doubled but not eligible for gift Aid.)

Over the past few years supporters, businesses and local community groups have raised funds in different ways to be magically doubled. All you need to do is organise an event that raises funds for HospiceCare North Northumberland before the start of the campaign week (3rd-10th December 2024), then donate your income online during the live week- for example, if you raise £100, it's magically doubled to £200. We will also give businesses and community groups some great exposure across our social media platforms and website to thank you.

The only caveat is that you MUST make your donation online during the live week because the rules state that we cannot accept cash or cheque donations. Look at the bottom of this page to see some businesses and community groups who supported our 2023 challenge.
