HospiceCare North Northumberland

Caring for Life!

HospiceCare was established in 1995 and is the main provider of palliative care in North Northumberland. The map above shows the geographicall area our nursing teams are able to deliver their care and support.

We deliver our care and support to adults, their families and carers, who have a life limiting illness such as Cancer, Respiratory Failure, Heart Failure, Lung Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson's Disease and Advanced Dementia.

People can access care and support at any stage of their illness, not just at the very end of their life. All our services are free of charge, delivered 365 days a year, day or night, planned or in a crises situation and a GP referral is not required, you can contact us directly for advice and support.

HospiceCare North Northumberland is not a bedded hospice, but delivers their care and support in the home - Hospice at Home. On average we provide end of life care to about 100 people every year, plus their families, carers and all who are important to them. We are a community nurse-led service, with developing partnerships working with the Primary Health Care Teams, Social Services, Hospitals and all other voluntary organisations.

Although we work closely with the above agencies, as an independent charity, our income is not supported by national charities such as Macmillan and Marie Curie.

We also provide Respite Care for carers, pre and post Bereavement Support as well as a range of Complementary Theraputic Treatments.
