A spectator-lined course covers 13.1 miles from Newcastle, across the iconic Tyne Bridge and onto the picturesque coastal finish in South Shields.

The Great North Run is firmly established as the world’s most popular half-marathon. From just 5,000 runners at the very first staging in 1981, the event has now grown to an unmissable experience for over 54,000 each year.

The Great North Run is not only part of the culture in the North East, but has touched lives across the UK and around the world - with runners from over 40 different countries taking part.

Most runners choose to raise money for charities close to their hearts. Thank you very much for choosing HospiceCare North Northumberland.

Here are some thoughts from our previous runners -

"I just wanted to say a quick BIG thank you for putting on such a good "recovery tent" after the GNR. The lunch packs, sweets, cups of tea, massage and fantastic atmosphere really made it a very special day. Thanks again, see you next year......."

"Thanks again for yesterday the support and tent was fab!"

"Even though it was really tough, it was a privilege to be able to give back something to the hospice. Knowing that every penny raised will help other families provided real motivation to carry on! What a day!"

Hospice Care Week 2018

Hospice Care Week

Hospice Care Week is an annual week of activity to raise the profile of hospice care across the UK. Each year we hold a week of celebration and action, which helps to change people’s perceptions of hospice care.

We are hospice care: 8-14 October 2018

‘We are hospice care’ is an opportunity to show the many faces of hospice care and to share their inspiring stories. From nurses to volunteers, chefs to chaplains, corporate partners to carers, Hospice Care Week is about celebrating everyone involved in providing and supporting hospice care.

What could you do?

  • Host a fundraising event
  • Invite HospiceCare to deliver a Talk to your work colleagues, group of friends or community group

These are just a couple of ideas, but you can do anything you wish to raise funds and awareness of HospiceCare nursing services in North Northumberland. If you would like to talk through your ideas, please call: Claire Price, HospiceCare: 01665 606515 or email: cprice@hospicecare-nn.org.uk
